Justin McBurney

Justin initiated into the Kappa Phi chapter as a freshman in the spring of 2013. During his tenure in Sigma Chi he held the positions of: Tribune, Formal Chairman, Recruitment Chairman, Consul and Magister. He graduated from Embry-Riddle in May of 2017 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering.

After graduating he made the decision to shift his career focus to piloting. He went back home to California to work for Chalk2, which, is a company that contracts with General Atomics, the USAF, the CA ANG and the U.S. Army to provide manned chase support for the Predator series UAVs. Upon reaching 1500 flight hours he then started with SkyWest as a First Officer on the CRJ 200/700/900. He is currently based in Denver and has now been with SkyWest for over a year. He couldn’t be happier with his decision to pursue aviation as a career instead of engineering. Being able to fly for a living, explore the U.S. and travel the world has been absolutely amazing.

"Looking back at my time in the Kappa Phi chapter I am beyond grateful for the opportunities to grow as a man and a leader, but I have to say what I enjoyed the most and am most thankful for, were the true bonds of friendship and brotherhood I was able to share with men who are now my friends for life. It made my college experience an unbelievable one and has left me with a support system I can still rely on today."

Justin is pictured with Makenna Stockham, a sweetheart of Sigma Chi. The sweetheart of Sigma Chi is elected each year by the active brothers of the chapter. The sweetheart exemplifies the values that the brothers live by and will always have the support of the brothers.
